In
1993 I began going inner journeys as part of my own personal and
spiritual development. I discovered that I could easily access a dream
like world that was a rich source of spiritual guidance and insights
into hidden aspects of my psyche. Having experienced many benefits for
myself, I was keen to guide friends and family on these fascinating
inner journeys. It soon became apparent that I had a natural ability to
navigate the scenarios that my friends came across in this ‘dream’
world and that I intuitively knew how to interpret the journeys.
Many
years later I began reading tarot cards professionally. One day I
decided to ask for guidance prior to a new client arriving. I heard a
short but clear message which turned out to be very accurate. The next
time I was waiting for a client to arrive I tried tuning in again. This
time I spontaneously went into an inner journey. I saw a scenario which
I then reported to my client during the reading. We interpreted it
together and realised that the journey held valuable guidance regarding
the issue he had come to see me about.
I
began using this method every time I did a reading in addition to
using the tarot. Early on I had several incredible journeys which
reassured me (and my clients) that I was indeed tapping into their
psyches and finding answers on their behalf. It became clear that my
job was to simply report what I saw and help my client interpret and
understand the message. I found that the journeys would always reveal
an issue and the solution; the journeys would get straight to
the heart of what ever was holding my client back in their lives and
give them clear direction.
Sometimes
the image that was presented was literal but most times it was a
metaphoric ‘story’ that needed to be unravelled, much like a nocturnal
dream. This meant that the client would be involved in the process of
gaining clarity into their own situation and therefore felt empowered.
By the end of the reading they would have a thorough understanding of
the issue that faced them and a solution that they could go away and put
into practise. Many clients have also reported that having an image
helped them to make the changes they needed to make and served to remind
them of the solution that was given.
Shortly
after I began using journeys in my readings, I decided I wanted to
help others gain skills in working with the journeys. I had already
worked with people on a one to one basis and I decided to give it a try
with guiding a small group. I wasn’t sure if it would work but I soon
had four women willing to give it a try! I went on a journey myself to
find out what to do with the group and a set of tasks were revealed to
me. First I guided the group through a healing visualisation then we
met in a special place in the ‘dream’ world and I guided the group as
they performed the same tasks. After the journey the women shared their
experiences to the group and I helped them interpret their journeys.
Again I discovered that valuable insights were readily available and
that the women enjoyed having this time to explore their inner world.
I
have come to understand and recognise these inner journeys as being an
important aspect of Shamanic practice. I consider myself to be a Shamanic intuitive
and I work with tools that are presented to me directly by Spirit. I
particularly enjoy working with Shamanic journeys as they offer such
powerful insights and reliable spiritual guidance.
